Battle of the Books
The Battle of the Book is a reading competition program for students in grades 4-6 that promotes reading and encourages teamwork. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to discuss books from the assigned book list and engage in discussions and mini-competitions with other group members. There is a regional competition held in Spring.

Writing Club
Writing Club is an after school program for 8th grade students that are interested in writing their own short stories, novels or poetry.

History Club
History Club is offered for 6th - 8th graders during the lunch hour. Students compete in teams to answer historical questions. Students from this group may be chosen to compete in the Regional History Bee in the spring.

Environmental and Science Club
From October through May students in grades 5-8 may participate in the school’s Environmental and Science Club. Meetings are held once a month after school in the Niemer Science Lab. Ecology and the environment will be the focus for this group.

Creative Club

Creative Club is offered for 7th & 8th graders to enjoy their creative hobbies during the lunch hour one day a week.

Lego Club
Open to students grades 3-4, the St. Jude Lego Club is a very popular, fun club. Join other students as we build fantastic creations and work toward our final event, a Lego Competition. Because this club is large, we are always grateful for any donations of your old Legos. Meetings begin in late Winter/ early Spring and are held after school in the cafeteria/ parish hall. For more information, contact Rachael Mueller.

Math Club
Open to all students grade 7-8, the Math Club is for anyone excited about math!  Beginning in September, students meet once a week after school to work on fun and challenging math problems in preparation for the February MATHCOUNTS competition. MATHCOUNTS is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging "bee" style contests across the United States..

In December, Math Club members engage in testing to determine who will represent Saint Jude at the MATHCOUNTS competition. A total of 12 students are selected, 6 on a team, 4 individuals, and 2 alternates. If successful at the regional events, students continue on to state competitions.

Piano Lessons*
The Piano Lessons Program at Saint Jude School provides all students in grades 1st through 8th grade the opportunity to study piano during school hours or after school. Private, individual lessons are 30 minutes long, and are scheduled throughout the week during school hours or after school. Three excellent teachers staff the program: Dr. Peggy Otwell and Mrs. Betsy Hegwood.

School Play
Each year students grade 4-8 are eligible to participate in the school plays. We work together to create a spectacular theater event for Saint Jude parishioners and school families.  Auditions are typically in February; please watch the school newsletter for specific dates.  Rehearsals are 3 nights a week leading up to the performance in May. Parent and student volunteers are needed for all aspects of a theater arts production. Volunteer for a few hours or a specific set of responsibilities like publicity, (tickets, programs, posters, flyers) costumes, (sew), sets (build) or stage manager (lights, sound).

Scouting
Girl Scouts Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast (GSWISE) provides a girl-centered quality leadership experience that meets the needs of girls in a fast-changing world and ensures a lifelong connection with Girl Scouting. Partnered with adult volunteers and community, and infused with the principles of inclusion and diversity, GSWISE is the premier organization for girls.

The unique Girl Scout experience begins with the values of the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, girls Discover, Connect, and Take Action, building skills that yield the desired outcomes of courage, confidence, and character. Ultimately, through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, girls aspire to make the world a better place.

Girl Scouts at Saint Jude School is open to girls in grades K-8 to participate as Daisies (grades 5K-1), Brownies (grades 2-3), Junior Girl Scouts (grade 4 -5), and Girl Scout Cadettes (grades 6-8). A full list of Girl Scout leaders is available in your school directory. For additional questions, please email Paula McClelland, GSWISE School Site Organizer.
Boy Scouts The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

The Saint Jude School BSA charter is open to boys grades 1-8 and meets both as a den (small group) and pack (large group) once a month between September and May. In addition to personal development, our scouts participate in community outreach projects and enjoy friendly competition with the annual Pinewood Derby and Raingutter Regatta.

Stock Market Club
Open for grades 6-8, the Stock Market Club meets during the spring months. The club utilizes the Stock Market Game which is a simulation game for the United States Stock Market. The competition was developed to promote a better understanding of the Financial Investment System and how it works. The simulation is geared to helping students understand how to trade in the stock market. They also learn the costs and benefits involved in economic decision making, buyers and market demand, sellers and market supply, and sources and uses of capital. While working in teams, the students have fun and learn some of the mechanics of investing.
